Lucas County Probate Court

Lucas County Marriage License Process

To get a marriage license in Lucas County, both parties must appear at the Probate Court in Toledo. This is set by ORC Chapter 3101. Bring valid photo ID. If either person was married before, bring the divorce decree or death certificate. The Marriage License Division at (419) 213-4805 can answer questions about what you need to bring.

The license fee runs in the $50 to $65 range. Ohio has no waiting period. The license is valid for 60 days. The ceremony can happen anywhere in the state. After the wedding, the officiant returns the signed license to the Lucas County Probate Court within 30 days. The court records the marriage. You can then order certified copies for $2.00 each.
